DONALD DUCK TO THE RESCUE!

DISNEY POP-ARTIST DONATES HIS WORK
TO HONOR SOHO FIREFIGHTERS

NEW YORK, NY – September 1, 2004 – Animazing Gallery in Soho will host a reception in honor of local Engine Company #55. Renowned Disney Pop-Artist, David Willardson, will personally tribute their heroic achievement by donating an original painting of Donald “rushing to save the day.” Willardson hopes it will find a permanent home in the firehouse. The artist and firefighters will be on hand to meet and greet fans at the reception on September 30th from 6-8 pm. The presentation will begin promptly at 6:30, and is open to the media and public. The gallery is located at 461 Broome Street, between Greene and Mercer. RSVPs are requested by phone or thru RSVP@animazing.com.
David Willardson

David Willardson has gained international acclaim for his dynamic pop-art renditions of Disney’s most beloved characters. He will appear in New York before traveling to Tokyo to attend his museum exhibition. Returning to southern California, he will prepare for a major exhibition of new paintings opening in the spring of 2005 at Animazing Gallery. Willardson’s art is on permanent display at Animazing, the exclusive showroom in the United States for his original works.

Willardson virtually walked away from a successful career as one of Disney’s top commercial artists. He is best known for designing the promotional images for video jackets and movie posters of Disney Classics since 1955, including: Lady & the Tramp, Snow White, Bambi, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Aladdin, and The Lion King. Willardson’s long history with the characters has given him the ability to infuse so much personality into his original work, which is filled with life and color. He captures the essential mood swings of his favorite Disney characters, especially Donald Duck. His talent enables us to respond emotionally with the characters. When asked how long it took to paint the Minnie Mouse hanging on the wall, he replied “Thirty years!”
