In 1946 Salvador Dali was commissioned by Walt Disney to storyboard a short feature to the musical ballad called “Destino;” After eight months the project was put on hold because of other commitments that the studio was obliged to fulfill. In 1999 Roy Disney became inspired to finish “Destino” after the release of “Fantasia 2000” –a film richly laden with outlandish surrealistic imagery that was no doubt influenced by Surrealism.

Nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for its “Outstanding Creativity!” “Destino” will always remain a significant artistic contribution, and the singular collaboration between the creative geniuses; Salvador Dali and Disney.

Here is one of God’s creatures; entrenched and rooted in this place where we are burdened by the persistence of time. Here, in this world, we have no real strength, but it does come to us from above; the symbolism of the fish reminds us that there is enough nourishment in heaven for us all.
