| David Kracov creates
irresistible and unique sculptures that have an attitudinal
and satirical edge; he launches old classic characters right
"out of the box!" i.e., Duck Tape…. The artist
aspires to make the world laugh out loud, and if his success
can be measured by the size of the David Kracov
International Fan Club then he must be on the right
path. For more than ten years Kracov has been the only artist
who has held such unique creative licenses with major studios,
and he has enjoyed working with characters from Disney,
Warner Bros., King Features, (Betty Boop) and now United
Media (Peanuts). These sculptures are first designed by
the artist, then crafted in exquisite marble, hand-painted
and signed.
David Kracov began his art career at the early
age of 12; winning first place at a prestigious art camp
in two separate categories. Shortly after, he became one
of the youngest artists to have their paintings displayed
in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and then he went on to
graduate from Rhode Island School of Design in 1990.
David moved to Los Angeles where he began
working on major animation projects like Cool World, the
Ralph Bakshi and Brad Pitt feature, and then The Lion King
and Aladdin, among others. As an animator, David began to
work with different types of clay and started sculpting
the characters from the films he animated. David moved to

As an animator, David began to work with different types of
clay and started sculpting the characters from the films he
animated. He quickly discovered a passion for sculpting, which
led to his first one man show in April of 1993, at a gallery
that specialized in animation art. At the opening, a one-of-a-kind
chess set enticed a Warner Bros. executive thru a window,
and he was so impressed with this chess set, that he commissioned
the first of many limited-edition chess set for the Warner
Bros. Studio Stores right on the spot. One chess set for the
Studio Stores was produced into a limited edition of 50; this
required approximately eight months for the artist to complete,
and the chess sets were all sold within two days. Gaining
in popularity, and notoriety, Disney Studios asked the artist
to create sculptures of individual characters as well as chess
sets for their stores, galleries, theme parks and catalog.
Today, David Kracov is the exclusive licensed sculptor of
all Warner Bros. Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, and Tim Burton's
Corpse Bride characters, as well as creating limited edition
sculptures for the Disney Studios. His sculptures are included
in the collections of several of Hollywood's elite entertainment
names and organizations. |
